Talk It Over

1. What stood out to most about the message? What did God confirm in your life? What made you uncomfortable, but made you think? What challenged you the most?

2. Pastor Sean said, “God's word speaks a better word than our world.” What words would you use to describe the Bible and why? Is there a part of the Bible you find hard or impossible to believe?

3. Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Describe what “fearing the Lord" looks like in someones life? Would you describe yourself as someone who fears God? Why or why not? What would have to change in your life to say that you truly fear God?

4. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” When it comes to marriage, sexuality, and sex what claims of the world stand against the knowledge of God? What scriptures gives insight to the knowledge of God in regards to sex, sexuality, and marriage? If you feel comfortable, what knowledge in your life in this areas set itself up as a stronghold against the things of Christ? How did you deal with it?

5. Pastor Sean talked about Job and how he was wounded so deep that he stood against God. Have you had a time in your life that wounded you so deeply that you stopped listening to God? Job eventually sees his error and turns back to God. Read the passage below and answer the following questions:
1. Is there a sin to avoid?
2. Is there a promise to keep?
3. Is there an example to follow?
4. Is there a command to obey?
5. Is their a knowledge to obtain?Job 42:1-6

Then Job replied to the Lord: 2“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. 4“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’ 5My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. 6Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

6. Like Job, describe the conversation you think God would have with you about your lifestyle, marriage ideas, sexual practices? Isaiah 55:7 says, "Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” What words stick out in this passage, in regards to how we get right with God and how He respond to our sin? Spend time reflecting in prayer and confess to God any areas you put yourself on the throne. Spend time thinking God for his faithfulness.
