The Heart of a Father
Introduction:

The bible isn't just filled with principles; it's filled with stories.

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s
children.

Our children don't just need our stuff; they need our stories.

When we get a glimpse into someone else's life, it oftentimes helps us
see ourselves.
This story took place right after Jesus came down off the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter, James & John.

Epilepsy - a brain disorder that causes recurring seizures.
This father is going to play a key role in his son receiving his healing.

Our kids' struggles oftentimes are not just an eye opening experience
for them, but also a locater for us.

The father in this story did not have epilepsy, but his son's fight with epilepsy exposed his Dad's personal struggles with his faith.
Point 1: Our children need Dad's discernment too.
Point 2: Our children need to see our willingness to yield to authority.
Oftentimes we learn from our fathers how to relate to those in
authority.

This young man's miracle was directly connected to his father's ability to yield to someone in spiritual authority.
Point 3: Our children need to see their Dads reach out for help when we need it.
Super Dads don't have all the answers.

You might not have the ANSWER to your prayer, but you STILL have PRAYER.
Pride is what prevents us from reaching out for help.
Pride doesn't come before a victory; pride comes before a fall.
Who's praying for you? Who's helping you shoulder the load of what
you're carrying?
In Conclusion:

The demonic spirit they were dealing with was foul (unclean, impure,
lewd (morally)
