Lamentation

Lamentation is the act of expressing our grief, our sorrow, and our questions. It's a form of prayer, a raw and honest conversation with God about our pain. Lament is an expression of grief that God welcomes.

Each of these experiences is different, but they all share common ground—they’re rooted in the reality of our human experience, our capacity to love, to attach, and consequently, to feel pain when there is detachment or death or loss.

The pathway to healing and restoration often leads us through the valley of lamentation
Lamentation: Address and Introductory Cry

Identify the Lord as the person to whom you are addressing your complaint. Request His presence as you express what is on your heart.
Lamentation: Complaint or Lament

Articulate the problem with which you are wrestling. Detail how it is affecting you, the pain it is causing, and ask the Lord for His help.
Lamentation: Confession of Trust

Verbalize your trust in the Lord. Share your hopes that He will come to your aid, that He will be present with you in your situation.
Lamentation: Prayer for Deliverance

Request deliverance or God’s intervention in the problem.
Lamentation: Praise

Offer praise and thanksgiving to God for His many blessings and faithfulness.
