Use this space to take your general notes during the message.
It's the final week of our "Breaking the Law" series and we are discussing arguably the most relatable part of sin; temptation. We've all experienced the struggle of temptation. Why do you think that our culture has such a fascination with desire and temptation?
Read Romans 7:19. Paul was very transparent with his struggles. Pastor Jonathan reminded us that "Struggle is a Good Sign", it shows God's Spirit at work within you. What personal experiences can you draw on that have illustrated this idea?

Romans 7:19

When we sin, we are pulling away from God's best. James sums this up perfectly for us. Read James 1:14-15. What does he mean when he says "when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”?

James 1:14-15

Self- awareness is very important when it comes to our individual temptation struggles. To help with this, Pastor Jonathan gave us a simple question that we can use to filter our own desires through. He suggested asking yourself, "is this desire leading me away from God's best?". How do you think this filter can be helpful to you in future situations? Are there any specific past examples that you can recall where this filter would have been helpful?
Read Romans 6:11-12. Pastor Jonathan gave us 3 helpful steps to use when we find ourselves being pulled away from God's best for us. How do you think responding to temptation using these 3 steps might be helpful?
-Remove: the situation or yourself from the situation
-Replace: with something good, healthy, true, helpful, wise
-Rely: trust; ultimate dependence on God’s strength

Romans 6:11-12

Remember, Jesus Himself faced temptation. Take some time to pray and ask Him to help you with your own sin temptations. Ask him to help you realize where you need to remove, replace and rely. Ask if anything in your life is keeping you from HIs best for you.
