Parkerville Baptist Church
Acts of the Apostles 6:1-7
This Sunday, Anthony will be bring us the latest instalment in our sermon series on the book of Acts. Anthony says “There is an old acrostic for the word TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More – meaning that when people work together as a team, then more is achieved. This week we see in Acts 6 the church starting to organise itself so that it can be more effective and not stop sharing the gospel, requiring delegation and working as a team.”

Why we exist …
Love God, love others, make disciples … that’s the commission Jesus left his followers.
At Parky, it’s our mission to do this by sharing our lives and creating pathways that inspire people to wholeheartedly follow Jesus.

A team is a group of people working together towards a common goal. A group of people with different skills and different tasks, who work together on a common project, service, or goal with a meshing of functions and mutual support.

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

“whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave … the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28

“the church was not afraid to adjust their structure in order to make room for a growing ministry. When structure and ministry conflict, this gives us an opportunity to trust God for the solution, It is tragic when churches destroy ministry because they refuse to modify their structure. The apostles were not afraid to share their authority and ministry with others."

Why Serve? The answer to that depends on where you are spiritually

We were created to serve others
We serve God by serving others
It demonstrates that we belong to Christ
We love, serve, and care for others because that is normal behaviour for people who are filled with God’s Spirit. We are Christianpeoples. Christ was the ultimate servant. We can’t help but serve because the Spirit of the Servant filled our hearts. When we serve, we are just being who we naturally are. Steve Sjogren
Serving will be rewarded for eternity
