It's the 2nd week of our series titled Everyday Jesus. We're continuing to look at the "I Am" statements of Jesus. This week, we're focusing on connection as we break down Jesus saying, "I am the Vine".
Ice breaker: What does it mean to be connected to Jesus and why do you think that so many Christians live disconnected lives?
Read John 15:1-8 (NIV). How is Jesus The Vine? What did Jesus mean when He said that "no branch can bear fruit by itself"?
In what ways does our culture challenge the idea of being in constant dependence on Jesus?
Using the phone signal analogy that Pastor Jonathan gave, how would you describe your connection with Jesus? Is your signal strong or weak?
Pastor Jonathan gave us a helpful truth. He reminded us that "we are not the only branch on The Vine". Just like in nature, there are many branches interconnected on a vine. By staying in connection with others who are connected to Jesus, we stay better connected to Jesus ourselves. Are you connecting with others who are connected to Jesus? If so, in what ways? Are there any additional ways that you would like to grow in this area?
Take time to pray for God to reveal opportunities to stay dependent on Jesus.
