When People Get in My Way – Bilshan Nursimulu

When People Get in My Way – Bilshan Nursimulu

Things do not always work according to our plans. We sometimes feel that this is so because people get in our way. How then should we deal with these people? In Luke 10:33, we read about the good Samaritan who was set on a journey and taking care of a robbed stranger was not part of his initial project, yet he changed the course of his plans for that purpose. In Acts 15:36-41, we read a different story about how Paul saw John Mark as a sort of liability in his ministry and decided against embarking on a journey with him. This message questions when to readapt our journey because of those who are in our way and when to continue our journey without those people. Either decision revolves around one principle: loving people like God has loved us.

1. See the bigger journey, not just the next stop

The journey is not about where I go, but where the people whom I serve end up.
2. Accept being challenged

Sometimes God puts people in our way to question why we are doing things in a certain way.

- Ephesians 5:21 – “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
- 1 Peter 5:5 – “All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another…”
3. Seize the opportunity to change someone else’s course

Sometimes God puts people in our way for us to change their course.

See Acts 9
Remember:
God always puts people in our way for a reason.
