1 Peter 3:8-12
Pastor Jerry Koller
Finally, all of you...Peter is giving some additional directions to the saints as a whole.
live in harmony with one another.
· Have unity of mind or have unity of spirit.
· Unity of mind or spirit has to do with perspective and outlook.
· Living in a society that stands in opposition to the kingdom of God, the saints need to stand united.
· Have unity of mind or have unity of spirit.
· Unity of mind or spirit has to do with perspective and outlook.
· Living in a society that stands in opposition to the kingdom of God, the saints need to stand united.
The saints must be sympathetic.
The word bear brings with it the understanding of lifting something up or carrying it away.
The saints are told to love as brothers.
· tender and affectionate; a love that shows great fondness.
· tender and affectionate; a love that shows great fondness.
Brotherly love helps us be compassionate.
· Compassion is having sympathetic concern for the suffering of another coupled with the merciful desire to give aid.
· having strong bowels
· kindhearted or tenderhearted

Humility is an attitude or mindset that is void of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Those to whom the blessing of salvation is given are called, by Peter, God’s elect (1 Peter 1:1). They are those who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: (1 Peter 1:2)
God’s elect, those whom He chooses, do not receive what they deserve. They receive what they do not deserve. As such, they receive the ultimate blessing. Verse 9 states: because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
In verses 10-12, Peter quotes Psalm 34:12-16. He says, For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech." (1 Peter 3:10)
· As such, both the Psalmist and Peter cautions God’s people to control their tongues.
· As such, both the Psalmist and Peter cautions God’s people to control their tongues.
God’s people must hate evil and do good.
God knows what is going on. He will deal with those who do evil. We must focus of righteousness.
APPLICATION
We must never respond by repaying evil for evil.
We must choose righteousness.
Rather than give them what they deserve, give them what they do not deserve, for that is what God did (and does) for His people.
We need to practice on ourselves.
· We must live in harmony with one another.
· We must be sympathetic with one another.
· We must love the saints,
· We must be compassionate with one another.
· We must remain humble.
· We must live in harmony with one another.
· We must be sympathetic with one another.
· We must love the saints,
· We must be compassionate with one another.
· We must remain humble.

Ways YOU Can Bless Dan and Tracy Marshall
We have a few ways that people can help Dan and Tracy Marshall as they continue to seek medical assistance for their 8-year-old son, Nolan, and spend 24/7 at the hospital with him. Here are a few ways you can help:
BRING THEM A MEAL/SEND A RESTAURANT GIFT CARD: If you are able to deliver dinner to them, please sign up at https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/g62ek8. They will have a cooler near the front door available to place items in. No need to ring the bell, just drop off and go.
HELP WITH RILEY: Spend some time with Riley after school on Monday, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays. He gets off the bus at 3 and would love for someone to play video games with him; take him to the local arcade, listen and hold cards for him while he practices his trombone, possibly help with homework, etc. The scheduled time spot for this is 3-6pm, but there is some flexibility in that. Please just reach out to Kim or Erin and let them know what works for you. Their contact info is on the sign-up page. If you're able to take a shift, please sign-up at https://www.caringbridge.org/.../themarshallfamily4/journal. [Tip: Click on the "month" tab to see what days are available.]
FUNDRAISER: We will host a fundraiser in the near future involving a meal and possibly a silent auction and more. We're still working out the date and other details. In the meantime, if you're interested in helping with the event or donating items for it, please contact Kim Collins or Erin (Blough) Hibma. More details coming soon.
AMAZON WISH LIST: At the suggestion of friends, Dan & Tracy have put together an Amazon wish list (although items can be purchased anywhere and snack items can be in smaller quantities) of snacks and activities that will be helpful for Nolan in the hospital as well as Riley at home during this stressful time. You can view the list at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3S1GKI9IDIWP9....
Please continue to keep Dan, Tracy and their boys in prayer. They're weary. They're stressed. They are being bombarded from a million different ways. While it's okay to text them words of encouragement, please know you may not get an answer back. Also, if there are any questions or suggestions for ways to help, etc. please contact Erin or Kim as we are trying to alleviate some of their load and coordinate whatever we can.
Thank you for loving and supporting them in this journey!

· Caroline Bocock was evaluated and returned home from an appointment with the Lyme Disease specialist in Washington DC. Beth says, "The concussion in November has definitely kicked off the Lyme’s. The doctor feels very strongly that it has centered in her brain and her gall bladder. We have several follow-up tests to do, but she feels pretty confident that we are going to have to get Caroline's gallbladder removed. The doctor prescribed a bunch of pain meds and stuff to calm Caroline’s brain and nervous system so she can sleep and heal. The doctor also feels that the treatment won't be as intense or as long as before, so that's a plus. We will praise Him in all things!”
· Nolan Marshall (son of Dan & Tracy) continues to be “hospitalized” in the emergency room because the pediatric floor at the hospital wasn’t able to manage him when he had an outburst/tantrum. The ER requires a parent to be with him 24/7. They are trying to find a residential treatment program that will accept him so he can hopefully get the help and medication management necessary. They are hitting one road block after another because of bed availability, his age, insurance issues and more. Please pray that they will find a feasible option soon.
· Sandi Starland is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
· Tom Craig & Family upon the death of his wife, Darlene, on 1/10.
· Tina Dell & Family upon the loss of her brother, Matt Chambers, on 1/7.
· Marge Benham is doing well. She is working with physical therapy on weight bearing activities. Hopefully she will be released from the rehab facility very soon and can continue her recovery with help at home.
· Roberta Newton is recovering at home following a procedure to repair a leaking blood vessel. Cards can be sent to Roberta Newton, P.O. Box 51, Palmadale FL 33944.
· Annette Koller is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
· Shannon French (son of Curt & Patty Bales) continues eye drop treatment for an infection. It looks the damaged part is creating new cells and hopefully healing.
· Joyce Bocock has completed chemo and radiation; praise God that both tumors have shrunk significantly more than expected; evaluating additional treatment options.
· Check out our monthly prayer card on-line at southhavenfbc.com under “Weekly Bulletins” for a list of those with on-going needs.
