* Nicodemus was aware of John the Baptist’s words in John 1:29.
* Nicodemus was aware of the voice from heaven in Matthew 3:17.
* Nicodemus was aware of the group of disciples Jesus had assembled in John 1:40-45.
* Nicodemus was aware of the miracle of water to wine in John 2:1-11.
* Nicodemus was aware of the Christ’s cleansing of the Temple in John 2:14-17.
* Nicodemus was aware of Christ’s own prophecy of his death, burial, and resurrection in John2:19-21.
* Nicodemus in John 3 is still in doubt and thus in this conversation the Lord gives him four
undeniable proofs of His trustworthiness.

I. The Proof of His Scriptures
Throughout Scripture, water is a recognized symbol of God’s Word.
It is through Scripture that God brings us to salvation.
God proves His trustworthiness through the eternality of His Word.
II. The Proof of His Spirit
The best the flesh can produce is still flesh – only the Spirit can produce the spiritual.
III. The Proof of His Sacrifice
The serpent Moses crafted by Moses represented the curse of sin.
The substance of brass – the hardest substance known – represented the only One who could withstand the curse.
