Talk It Over
1. Pastor Sean said the barrier to writing goals are self defeat and laziness. How true has this been in your life? Describe what words come to mind when you hear the word “goal.” What has been you biggest barrier to writing goals?
2. Paul’s heart was connected to the heart of God. Psalm 52:15 says, “And he will startle many nations. Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not been told; they will understand what they had not heard about.” Have you surrendered your heart to God's heart? This would have been a life verse for Paul. What’s on God's heart that is on your heart now? What verse do you consider to be a life verse?
3. Pastor Sean said, “Before you write out a goal write out your passion.” Think about your above answer. What’s on your heart? What would love if it came true? What would you hate if it didn't come true? Make a list and set your heart on those things. Post the list on your mirror and keep a copy on your phone and refer to it daily.
4. Leadership and life are hard, but God is with you. 2 Timothy 4:17 says, "But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed for all the Gentiles to hear.” In light of this verse, how should we see self defeat and laziness? What voice in your life is currently the strongest? What are 2-3 steps you can take to make God’s voice louder?
