Our Peace on Earth series began with Jesus’ Mission of Peace. Last week, we discussed our role as Peacemakers. This week, we are discussing peace in our world.
We crave peace both in what is going on around us and inside of us. But sometimes our circumstances can leave us feeling hopeless and helpless. However, there is good news! Pastor Jonathan reminded us, "we can be peace-filled even when things are not peaceful". Are there any examples you can pull from your own life where this was the case?
In Jesus' words to His disciples, He reminded them that peace and trouble will co-exist. Read John 16:33 (NIV).

John 16:33

Let's think about our mindset. Read Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT). How does our mindset impact our feelings of peace?

Galatians 5:22-23

We are not guaranteed a particular outcome, but we are promised the presence of Jesus. Read the following 2 scriptures. How do they remind us that we need to regularly look to and rely on Jesus?

Isaiah 26:3

Romans 15:13

It's important to do things that foster peace and build trust in Jesus. This means that we need to be aware of our peace-robbing habits. Take a moment and reflect on how this applies to your own life and then read the following scripture.
Pastor Jonathan shared some ways that we can refocus when we are in need of peace. He called them "Rhythms That Refocus". Take a look at the list he gave and search inward. What "rhythms" do you need to refocus and help you practice peace?
-Prayer/Bible: The Holy Spirit and His promises and faithfulness to others
-Certain people: encourage and remind
-Music, art, beauty: Inspiration
-Church: songs, sermons, serving
-Pause (breathe, rest): reset by God’s design
-Nature: outside, sun, trees, water

Philippians 4:4-9

We can be peace-filled even when things are not peaceful. Pray for God's inner peace and His help in finding rhythms of refocusing that work for you.
