Deuteronomy 1:16-18
2. The judges were given authority.
"Pervert", "Twist"
3. No planting of a tree by God's altar was allowed.
4. There shall be no blemish in the sacrifice.
5. Purge the evil.

1. Have you known someone in an elected position in the judicial system? How was your relationship with them, and what did you think of their leadership?
2. Have you ever been in a place where the system of justice was not put into place? What happened, and how did that affect the group of people around?
3. Are there other Bible stories where justice was administered and helped the situation?
4. When you think of Asherah poles, have you seen other statues/poles/structures, etc., in places people worshipped? How did you feel in that place? How did you respond to others and their admiration of the pole?
5. How can we continue to offer ourselves as an unblemished sacrifice for God?
6. Does Deuteronomy 17:2-7 seem harsh to you? Why do you think God was desirous to worship only unto him?
