First Advent Fulfillments

First Advent Fulfillments

As we approach Christmas, we enter a season called Advent ("Coming"). It's a time to celebrate God coming in human flesh (Jesus) and the miraculous saving intervention that brought! Yet, of course, before "coming" is "waiting"…God's people long ago waited for Christ's first coming; now we wait for His return. What can their waiting teach us about ours? This Advent, we'll look back with gratitude and look ahead with anticipation, worshiping the Lord for what He has done and will do.

• What was one thing from this week’s message that impacted/challenged me?

Treasuring God: How do these fulfillments impact my view of God?

Being Transformed: In what ways do I need the Lord to change how I anticipate His coming?

Loving Others: How can God’s faithfulness, seen in these passages, reflect onto how I care for and serve others this Christmas season?

Pursuing Unity: What are some practical ways we can encourage one another as we prepare for Christmas this year?

Next Week's Sermon

Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies during his first coming, but how sorrowful it was that so many people failed to notice his first advent! Next week we'll explore a group of people who didn't miss his arrival. They were Waiting Well for his appearing and marked it with honor and gifts fit for a king. We'll take their example and apply it to how we may wait well in the final weeks leading up to our celebration of his first coming!
