START TALKING
When have you seen that dedication is the difference in something you were part of or trying to accomplish? Maybe it was losing weight, advancing in your career, passing the class, winning the championship, etc.

Read Nehemiah 11:1-2. What does this verse show us about leaders? Do you think the phrase "leaders go first" is true? Why or why not? Would you follow a leader to something risky if they weren't going first?
Why was it a sacrifice for these people to live in Jerusalem? What do you think they might miss most from the cities they were living in previously? What would miss most if you went to a city that was just getting started? What would you have to sacrifice?

How does sacrifice help you to experience Jesus even more? What have you had to sacrifice, or what do you need to sacrifice, to be able to more fully and completely follow Him?
In the two verses you just read, what did their joy come from? How do you find joy in Jesus even when life isn't necessarily happy? What verses do you remember? What keeps you grounded to this truth?
