Faith That Works - Week 3
*Learning from James how to make our faith work in real life and helping others do the same.

TRUTH - Right Attitudes and Actions stem from accepting and looking intently into God’s Word
PROBLEM - division in the church, worship preferences, cultural ideologies, selfishness hearts
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20
WAYS TO HANDLE ANGER
Suppress - push it down
Confess - breath it up and out
Express - share it (WIN Statement)
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. James 1:21
Stages of Faith: Simplicity, Complexity, Perplexity, Humility
What holds you back from clearing out the filth/evil and accepting the word planted in you?
TRUTH - Right Attitudes and Actions stem from accepting and looking intently into God’s Word
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. James 1:22-23
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." Matthew 7:24
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law (word) that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:25
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. James 1:26

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Write a Prayer… Dear LORD, I confess to you my moral filth and evil that pollutes and deceives my soul. Help me to become humble to accept your Word planted in me and look intently into your Word, so my attitude and actions may reflect you. For your glory.
