We welcome you to Stone's Hill today!
A typical Stone's Hill service has:
* music (so feel free to sing out);
* some announcements (things that are upcoming that you can be a part of);
* a message out of the Bible (God speaks to us through his Word);
* and an opportunity for you to respond to the message (either immediately in the case of a decision that needs to be made OR in the future as you live out the message in your daily life.)
So relax and enjoy your morning! We're so glad you are here!

There’s only one place where Jesus tells us about his own heart.
Matthew 11:28-30 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The Great Invitation
In our culture, a written invitation has at least three pieces of information. From whom does the invitation come? To whom is it given? And what is being offered?
*
From whom does the invitation come? Christ. Someone who has no sense of entitlement. That’s what gentle means. He didn’t walk around with an attitude that said everyone should be privileged that He showed up. He gently offered, and some in fact, did turn away. But some followed.
*
To whom is it given? The weary and burdened. Someone who has been beaten up by life, worked into a frazzle, or severely exhausted. The beat down; beat up; burned-out.
*
And what is being offered? Rest. In this passage, rest is something given as well as discovered.
Message Outline
We know what Jesus is like by… THREE THINGS in this passage:
*
The Invitation Christ Offers - come to me. Three commands summarize this invitation. Come, take, learn.
*
The Audience Christ Addresses - the weary. We know what Jesus is like by observing to whom He is extending the invitation. Look who Jesus would invite to His table. You learn a lot about a person by who they would invite.
*
The Promise Christ Fulfills - rest. Rest is repose in God.
*
Are you in need of rest? Total life rest? Come to Christ today!
