Psalm 119: 49-64
49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.
50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
51 The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law.
52 I remember, Lord, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them.
53 Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law.
54 Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.
55 In the night, Lord, I remember your name, that I may keep your law.
56 This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.
57 You are my portion, Lord; I have promised to obey your words.
58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
59 I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.
61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.
62 At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.
63 I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.
64 The earth is filled with your love, Lord; teach me your decrees.
49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.

PCC Benediction
May you jump into the arms of Jesus.
And may He push you out into the world.
May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others.
Not because you must, but because you may.
This is why we were born!
May you jump into the arms of Jesus.
And may He push you out into the world.
May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others.
Not because you must, but because you may.
This is why we were born!
Beyond Sunday
There may not be a better tribute to the Holy Scriptures than the one that is provided in Psalm 119. Every verse in Psalm 119 exalts the Word of God and the God of the Word. During this 10-week summer series, Finding The Way, we get back to the basics of allowing Scripture to help us grow in gratitude, awe, and dependence on God and His Word. In doing so, we believe it will guide us in the best way we should go in whatever comes our way. This week in Psalm 119:49-64, we focus on how to find the way through the burdens of life.
1. What do you think are the top five individual burdens people have to deal with in their lifetime? (think major categories, e.g., health issues, finances, etc.)
2. Read Psalm 119:49-56. What words or phrases are repeated or stand out to you? What is the psalmist struggling with? How do you see remembering, comfort, and obedience playing into this struggle?
3. How have you found remembering the Lord or the comfort of the Lord to benefit you when you are burdened with a challenging season or situation? What holds you back from depending on what you remember about the Lord or receiving His comfort?
4. Read Psalm 119:57-64. Again what words or phrases stand out to you most? What is this saying about God’s responsibility and your responsibility when a burden is upon you?
5. Focus on the Psalm 119:57. Is it possible in your situation that the Lord could be enough for you, regardless of the outcome? Why does it seem like He is not enough at times? What would you need to do to make Him enough in any burdensome situation?
6. Reflect: Write a prayer to God based on this line… You are my portion, Lord…
