How Jesus Prayed
Pastor Jerry Koller
From infancy, we all learn a great deal through observation.
Four Characteristics of How Jesus Prayed:
1. Length
· An examination of the Gospels reveals the length of Jesus’ prayers were fairly short.
· The longest recorded prayer of Jesus is found in John 17.
· In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus cautioned His listeners to not pray like the hypocrites who love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men.
...True prayer is measured by weight, not by length. A single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length. ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon
3. Attitudes
An attitude refers to a set of emotions, beliefs, and behaviors that is directed toward something or someone. While they are enduring, they can also change.
Earnestly
· Earnest means not distracted by anything unrelated to the goal.
In Submission to the Father's Will
Length
· More is not always better, especially when it comes to praying is a public setting.
· True prayer is measured by weight, not by length.
· Prayer is the communication aspect of our relationship with God whereby we share our heart with Him.
Positions
· Each position has its own significance to the one doing the praying.
Attitudes
· We should work on praying earnestly.
· Do not allow distractions.
· Make sure you pray with a spirit of thanksgiving.
· We should pray with assurance for as God’s children,
· May we pray in submission to the Father's will. That means we need to know what the will of God is and is not.
Motivation
· When we pray, may it always be done with the view of bringing God the glory that is rightfully His, for He alone is worthy of all honor, praise and worship.
Happy Birthday!

If you contact us in advance, we can arrange for the shed to be open so you can get tools; otherwise feel free to bring your own.

Fundraiser: Door Repairs and Replacement

If you have noticed when you enter the church through our main entrance, the outside steel doors are in rough shape. It has been determined that they need to be replaced. In addition, all the fire doors in the east wing need repair or adjustments; so do the double steel doors in the gym on the east side of the building. We have contacted S.A. Morman and Co. in Portage to fix these issues. The cost will run approximately $14,400.00. If there is any way you could contribute to this expense, it would be greatly appreciated. You can simply mark your donation with “Doors” and drop it in the offering on Sunday morning or make an online contribution at
