I. Our prayer is to be steadfast
“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.”
Acts 1:14 (ESV)
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 6:4 “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Acts 2:42 (ESV)
Acts 1:14 (ESV)
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 6:4 “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Acts 2:42 (ESV)
Fruitless people are prayerless people.
Fruitful people must be persevering and devoted to prayer.
Prayer + NO devotion / steadfastness = FRUITLESS.
Prayer + Devotion / steadfastness = FRUIT
Prayer + Devotion / steadfastness = FRUIT
II. Our prayer is to be watchful
“What the “watching” believers are to do in these texts is not watch for Christ’s return, but watch their own life in light of the return of Christ. Believers need constantly to be “awake” to the nature of the times they live in—the “last days” of eschatological “fulfillment without consummation”—and to orient their lives accordingly”.

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
