EASTER Sunday 2022

EASTER Sunday 2022

It's Easter - the resurrection of Jesus is what we celebrate and that changes everything! Thomas was that follower that gets the rap for hesitating and doubting. Maybe doubt is the beginning steps of faith? It seems to be a spot where Jesus loves to show up - interacting with people so that their faith can move from hesitation to HOPE. Easter invites us to make this move…and to discover the joy of a secure HOPE in Jesus.

Q) Have you ever found yourself going from a posture of hesitation to hope?
2000 years ago, Scripture claims, God became flesh in the person of his Son Jesus. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a life without sin, took all our sin upon him, and died on a cross so that we could be forgiven.
= 3 days later, Jesus rose from the grave.

"He is risen": it's the heartbeat of the message of the Christian church.

These three English words are translated from one Greek word, egeirō,
which literally means "to waken" or "to rouse from the dead.”
We nicknamed him “doubting Thomas”...

but maybe doubt is one of the first steps on the road to faith and belief. God loves to grant us discoveries on the road to belief.
The evidence for Jesus' resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things: First, it is a very unusual event. And second, if you believe it happened, you have to change the way you live.

—Wolfhart Pannenberg, German theologian (1928—2014)
Tradition and other reliable sources tell us that Thomas went on in history to became the great evangelizer of India. Many sources claim he was in India from AD 52 through AD 72 and founded many churches there. It is commonly accepted that, when a group of non-believers challenged him to deny his faith in Christ, the one-time great doubter claimed, "I will never, ever renounce Christ." Because of refusal, they drove a stake through his body, and he died the death of a martyr.

The doubter turned faithful and committed believer. No one dies for a lie.

If the resurrection is true, it demands our whole life and each of our next steps…following after our Risen Savior!
