Jesus came the first time as a suffering servant, He will come again a 2nd time as the KING of KINGS!
DISCUSS & REFLECT
Big Idea
The Crucifixion of Christ was planned and determined by God before time began. Although it was in one sense the darkest day in human history, the day Jesus died was at the same time the most glorious. For it was at the cross that Jesus took the punishment for our sins and made it possible for us to live forever with Him in Heaven. We have seen over the course of this series that many Old Testament passages clearly foretell and declare in advance the events which occurred in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. One of those passages is Psalm 22. This chapter seems to be written from the cross itself, and reveals to us a portion of what Jesus endured on our behalf. He was momentarily forsaken by His Father, so that we will never be!
Discussion Questions
1. Why do you believe that God gave us so many Old Testament passages which prophesied what would happen to the Messiah?
2. For what reasons did the Jewish leaders reject Jesus, and why were they so adamant that He be put to death?
3. Read Luke 23:33-43. As Jesus hung upon the cross, He prayed; “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Who was he referring to? If you happened to be one of those that day he was referring to, how would this statement have affected you?
4. How do we know that Jesus sacrifice was accepted by God?

It is our hope that these “Flashbacks” to the cross are preparing us for the Easter season. God had an extraordinary plan to restore humankind into right relationship with Himself. Prayer Focus
Continue to pray for all of the Easter opportunities here at Crossroads. Good Friday, the 3 Easter Celebrations, and of course the children’s ministries. God will use us if we allow Him to at this very special time of the year. Let’s believe together for the greatest of all Easter celebrations.
