Open
Looking back at your notes from this Sunday, talk about what stood out to you in the message. Was there something especially helpful, challenging, convicting, or hard to grasp?
If you have done this already, how old were you when you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and be your Lord? Tell us about that experience.
Next week we will receive communion as a church, How can communion remind us that we are (or can be) a part of the people of the Lamb and sealed by God?
Going Deeper Into God’s Word
How do the following passages help you more clearly understand the seal referred to in Revelation 7?
• 2 Corinthians 1:22 (NIV) “set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”
• Ephesians 1:13 (NIV), “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, “ & 2 Timothy 2 19 (NIV)
Read Ezekiel 9:3-6, Exodus 12:7 & 12:12-13. Revelation 7 mirrors these images and reminds God’s people that by being sealed they are protected from the ultimate destruction of the breaking of the seals, the trumpets, and the pouring out of the seven bowls. Being sealed also enables faith to grow in the midst of the tribulations “Great Sorrows” of this world.
• How does knowing you have been sealed give you strength and hope in the midst of the trials of this life? How should it?
