Experience a Savior Who Grieved

--He wept over the city of Jerusalem
--He grieved His cousin, John the Baptist's, murder
Moved by tears of some, unfazed by doubt of others, Jesus takes action.
But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?” Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. John 11:37-38
Go to God with your feelings

Go to God with your feelings
We grieve geopolitical aggression and unrest. Jesus grieved the same.
Bring your anger and sadness to Jesus.
How to process grief:
1. Enter fully into your related emotions
--Go to God with your real feelings
2. Set aside time and space to attend to what's happened
--Matthew 14:12 ...he withdrew...
3. Talk about it; write about it
--Be with others - don't isolate
Jesus knows our grief. We can be intimate with God in our grief because we can see how deeply Jesus grieved.

PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus.
And may He push you out into the world.
May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others.
Not because you must, but because you may.
This is why we were born!
May you jump into the arms of Jesus.
And may He push you out into the world.
May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others.
Not because you must, but because you may.
This is why we were born!
Beyond Sunday
The intent of our Lenten 5-day Devotional format is to give you an opportunity to reflect on Jesus' suffering and realize that “He Knows” your suffering. Note the daily prayer and weekly family/couple moment. During this 5th week of Lent, we focus on how JESUS KNOWS GRIEF.
Monday: In the last week, how did you connect your suffering of any kind with Jesus’ suffering? And how did you allow your suffering to be an opportunity for intimacy with Jesus?
Tuesday: What do you observe about why and how Jesus grieves in these two scenarios John 11:17-36, Luke 19:41-44. How are they similar and how are they different?
Wednesday: How does knowing that the Lord grieves for those He yearns to know Him and for those who are in despair, help you to appreciate Him more? How does Psalm 56:8 further enhance this perspective?
Thursday: As Jesus grieves the loss of his dear cousin John, what do you learn about how to grieve in Matthew 14:9-13?
Friday: What are you grieving (e.g. feeling let down by God, a deep sadness for others, a huge loss in your life, etc)? How might you allow it to lead you to intimacy with God?
Daily Prayer: Lord, help me to appreciate your suffering for me more and more. May you reveal it to me in new ways and may it grow my awareness of Your love for me.
Weekly Family/Couples Moment: What do you observe about why and how Jesus grieves in these two very different scenarios John 11:17-36, Luke 19:41-44. How are they similar and how are they different? What are you grieving (e.g. feeling let down by God, a deep sadness for others, a huge loss in your life, etc)? How might you allow it to lead you to intimacy with God?
