Return of the King: Week 5 - Best Days Yet Ahead
And there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war with justice. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule the nations with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:11-16
Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and against his army. But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence….Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds ate their fill of their flesh. Revelation 19:19-21
A. The Great Days that are Coming:
The Return of Christ. Revelation 19:1-21
His Millennial Reign. Revelation 20:1-10
B. The Day of Christ’s Return:
1. The Voice of the Archangel will summon the elect to meet Jesus in the clouds. 1 Thessalonians 4:16
2. The Angel will summon birds to clean up the mess that’s about to occur. Revelation 19:17
An angel standing in the sun… called out in a loud voice, saying to all the birds flying high overhead, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and of their riders, and the flesh of everyone, both free and slave, great and small.”
3. The Antichrist and the False Prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 19:20
4. The armies of the Antichrist will be destroyed by Jesus’ words. Revelation 19:21
The rest were killed with the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds ate their fill of their flesh.
5. God’s avian clean-up crew will clear the battlefield. Revelation 19:21b
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven holding the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
6. Satan will be bound and cast into the abyss. Revelation 20:1
He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the abyss, closed it, and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. Revelation 20:2-3a
7. The martyrs and believers will reign with Christ. Revelation 20:4
Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and who had not accepted the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4
They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed.
This is the first resurrection. Revelation 20:5b
Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20:6
On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it towards the western sea, in summer and winter alike. On that day the Lord will become King over the whole earth – the Lord alone, and his name alone. All the land… south of Jerusalem will be changed into a plain.
But Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain on its site… People will live there, and never again will there be a curse of complete destruction. So Jerusalem will dwell in security.
8. Jerusalem will rise in elevation. Zechariah 14:10
Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of Armies, and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters. Zechariah 14:16
9. They’ll be an annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Zechariah 14:16
Should any families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of Armies, rain will not fall on them.
The wolf will dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard will lie down with the goat.
The calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf will be together,
and a child will lead them.
7 The cow and the bear will graze,
their young ones will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like cattle.
8 An infant will play beside the cobra’s pit,
and a toddler will put his hand into a snake’s den.
9 They will not harm or destroy each other
on my entire holy mountain,
for the land will be as full
of the knowledge of the Lord
as the sea is filled with water.
Isaiah 11:6-9
People will build houses and live in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.22 They will not build and others live in them;
they will not plant and others eat.
For my people’s lives will be
like the lifetime of a tree.
My chosen ones will fully enjoy
the work of their hands.
23 They will not labor without success
or bear children destined for disaster,
for they will be a people blessed by the Lord
along with their descendants.
24 Even before they call, I will answer;
while they are still speaking, I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like cattle,
but the serpent’s food will be dust!
They will not do what is evil or destroy
on my entire holy mountain,”
says the Lord.
Isaiah 65:21-25
The government will be upon His shoulders.
He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.7 The dominion will be vast,
and its prosperity will never end.
He will reign on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it
with justice and righteousness from now on and forever.
Isaiah 9:6-7
When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison…When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison
...and will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea. They came up across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the encampment of the saints, the beloved city. Revelation 20:7-9
10. After 1,000 years, Satan will be released and lead a rebellion. Revelation 20:7-9
Then fire came down from heaven and consumed them.10 The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Revelation 20:7-10
11. Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10
PRAYER
Let’s conclude by praying together. Pray these words with me:
Lord Jesus,
Find us faithful.

Isaiah 41:10 says,Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Lots of voices are whispering words of fear and worry these days. Resist them! Lean into Jesus this week and He will strengthen, and help, and hold you!
