CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What symbolism is present in this story, and how does it help explain who Jesus is?

2. Sometimes we are tempted to think that Jesus is only interested in solving our “spiritual” problems. But Mary invited Jesus to solve a very practical social dilemma (the embarrassment of having run out of wine at a wedding). What practical situations or problems in your life do you need to invite Jesus into?

3. In verse 11, the disciples respond to Jesus’ “sign” with faith in him. What is the relationship between miraculous signs and faith? In what ways has God intervened in unexpected or miraculous ways in your life?

PRAYER PROMPT
Thank God for the ways He has revealed himself in your life, both physical and spiritual. Ask Him to continue to intervene in your life for your good and His glory.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: Water into Wine
Reference: John 2:1-11
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@cckc.church
> What is Jesus like, really?
> The wine always runs out…eventually.
> What will you do when the wine runs out?
> Jesus brings the best rescue
> Jesus brings the fullest joy
“Never forget that when we are dealing with any pleasure in its healthy and normal and satisfying form, we are, in a sense, on the [God’s] ground. …it is His invention, not ours.… All we can do is to encourage the humans to take the pleasures which our [God] has produced, at times, or in ways, or in degrees, which He has forbidden.”

- C. S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters
> Do whatever he tells you
“In short, in 2:3 Mary approaches Jesus as his mother, and is reproached; in 2:5, she responds is a believer, and her faith is honored. She still does not know what he would do; but she has committed the matter to him, and trusts him.”

-D. A. Carson, John
> Where are you holding back from doing whatever he tells you?
