1. In leading us God tests us to expose what’s in our hearts.
“… testing you, to know what was in your heart…” (vs. 2)

2. The purpose of God’s leading and testing is to cause us to depend upon Him.
“…that He might humble you…” (vs. 2)
Pride means to be focused on yourself and place your faith in yourself.
Humility means you are focused on and place your faith in something greater than yourself.

3. The testing comes before you gain the promise.
“Remember all the way which the Lord your God led you in the wilderness…testing you…” (vs. 2)

1. The test of obedience to God’s commands regarding our blessings.
Exodus 16:4-5
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
Will you be grateful and wise stewards of God’s blessings or foolishly and selfishly misuse them to yours and others hurt?
2. Test of living in an ungodly culture.
Judges 2:21-22
I also will no longer drive out before them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died, 22 in order to test Israel by them, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk in it as their fathers did, or not.”
Being surrounded by ungodliness and wickedness is not only a danger but also an opportunity.
