Study after study shows that human happiness is directly tied to our sense of purpose in this life. How significant is it then, that Jesus, in one of his last times with his followers, calls them to take the mission of His life and make it the mission of their life? John 20:21-22 ESV
1) He’s calling them to be missionaries, to be “sent people.”
2) He’s calling them to care the way he cared: for people’s physical and spiritual poverty.
3) He’s calling them to use His power to do this…
The Disciples were hiding from the world,
trying to survive in world,
but Jesus calls them go to the world.
#1 Mission begins best where you already are.
#2 Mission doesn’t require perfection, but it does require margin.
#3 Mission often starts with simple acts of persistent love.
#4 Mission must always lead to words
#5 Mission places our victory outside of our self… and for many of us that is the beginning of peace.
