In most churches, there is no lack of multi-cultural representation. There’s a lack of multi-racial representation.
Culture -the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.; that which is excellent in the arts, manners, etc.; development or improvement of the mind by education or training; the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group: the youth culture; the drug culture; the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another.
Race - (no longer in technical use) any of the traditional divisions of humankind, the commonest being the Caucasian, Mongoloid, and Negro, characterized by supposedly distinctive and universal physical characteristics; a human population partially isolated reproductively from other populations, whose members share a greater degree of physical and genetic similarity with one another than with other humans.
Ethnicity - pertaining to or characteristic of a people, especially a group (ethnic group) sharing a common and distinctive culture, religion, language, or the like; belonging to or deriving from the cultural, racial, religious, or linguistic traditions of a people or country.
Nationality - the status of belonging to a particular nation, whether by birth or naturalization: the nationality of an immigrant.
We’ve experienced one of America’s historical turning points as it pertains to race relations. We proclaim and remind ourselves that there is justice, love, mercy & faith in us because of Jesus and the pursuit of Godliness, but, how much of this is idealism vs. practice? Ignorance vs. knowledge? Acceptance vs. tolerance? Teaching vs. learning.
