Rock Solid Truths
1 Peter 1:3-12

The reminder of the glory of God’s nature and of his goodness to us should always result in a Rock Solid Response to God. In the passage, Peter offers 3 fitting responses which flow out of true, heartfelt worship.

I. Rock Solid Response #1 – True worship will lead us to Stay focused on Jesus.

II. Rock Solid Response #2 – True worship will lead us to Live like our Father. Our motivation to do so:

A. Our Father’s Command.

B. Our Heavenly Reward.

C. Our Redemption’s Price.

D. Our Savior’s Love.

III. Rock Solid Response #3 – True worship will lead us to Love our new Family.

“Connections” activities will not be held this week due to the Fisher Homecoming parade at 6:30 pm. Take the opportunity to support the school and community by attending the parade.

The Dewey Women’s Book Club will meet at Rhonda Hauser’s home. The group will discuss, Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls. Bring snacks to share following the discussion. All women of the church and community are welcome to participate.

SUN, SEPT 26 @ 10:35 AM // Worship Service
In the Worship service, Pastor Neal will continue the series, “Rock Solid” with a look at 1 Peter 2:1-12.

A Ladies’ Bible Study Fall Session will be held each Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:45 pm at the church. The study is titled, “Faithful: From Eden to Eternity.” This six week study will begin on October 13 and conclude on November 17. Let Rhonda Hauser or Connie Knox know if you plan to participate. The cost of the book is $10 and they will be ordered on Wednesday, September 22.

Daily Devotionals: Copies of ‘Our Daily Bread’ and ‘The Quiet Hour’ are available on the tables in each entryway. Pick up a copy and enjoy spending time in God’s Word each day.

A Note From a Preschool Parent: We love the new Bible Book that was given to [our son.] We read all the way up to page 71 last night. It is a treasure. Thank you so much.

“Gentle and Lowly:” This book, by Dane Ortlund, is available free of charge to the DCC family through the generosity of the publisher, Crossway books. In explaining his purpose for the book, Ortlund writes, “We are not focusing centrally on what Christ has done. We are considering who he is. The gospel offers us not only legal exoneration—invisibly precious truth!—it also sweeps us into Christ’s very heart.” The adult Bible Study and Prayer gathering will be using this book in the coming year to increase our understanding of Jesus’ heart as a means of fueling our own heartfelt praise and worship.
