What’s the Issue Anyway?
Belief determines ___________________.
What wisdom does Scripture offer me?
A father’s only son would have inherited __________ that was the father’s. (John 1:14)
Paul taught that Jesus is the ________________ icon… (Colossians 1:15a)
Paul taught that Jesus is the perfect icon but not the ___________ icon. (Romans 1:20)
“Firstborn of all creation” is a metaphor about __________________, not origin. (Colossians 1:15b)
Don’t Miss This!
Jesus is the official _________________ _________ of the divine for the Christian.
What about my every day, normal life?
A Christian is a person who chooses to:
Grow in their __________________ and ____________________ of the divine and...
centers their ______________ in this world...
in the ___________________ and the _________________ of Jesus.
The Believing Like Jesus Journey Ahead:
Jesus believed his scriptures were _________________.
Jesus believed God is __________.
Jesus believed God is the good and just ____________________ of the world.
Jesus believed God is ____________.
Jesus believed God is __________-________________.
Jesus believed God is _____________.
How does this make me a better person and the world a better place?
When we believe like Jesus we will ________________ like Jesus.
What is God inviting you into today?
When we believe like Jesus we will ________________ like Jesus.
1. Commit to attending each week (online, on demand or on campus) of this series.
2. Participate in a Journey Group to explore more the weekend message.
3. Invite someone to go with me on this journey into believing like Jesus.
Thought provoking questions:
1. Have you ever had a belief about something or someone change? What happened to cause the change in belief? How did that affect your behavior towards that something or someone?
2. What have been the top 2 or 3 major influences in your beliefs about God?
3. Read Colossians 1:15 and John 14:7-9. If Jesus is the perfect image of God and the heir to all of creation, what does that mean for our lives? What hope can we find in believing that Jesus “images” God perfectly?
4. If Jesus is the perfect image of God, but not the only one (as Paul and Jesus seemed to believe) what might that mean about seeing God in the natural world or other faith traditions?
5. If you want to identify God at work in the world, and you choose to experience God through Jesus, what are the evidences of God’s presence that would cause you to say, “God is working here”? Do you think the work of God is always and only present when the word “Christian” or “Jesus” is stated?
