Colossians – Jesus Reigns and Rescues
Our theme for Colossians: “Jesus Reigns and Rescues!”
Our theme verse is Col 2:9-10 “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.” NIV
Jean Paul Sartre said, "Life is an empty bubble on the sea of nothingness"
Stephen Hawking, referring to atheism, “When you look at the vast size of the universe, and how accidental and insignificant human life is in it, that seems most implausible.”
Richard Dawkins said, “Be thankful that you have a life, and forsake your vain and presumptuous desire for a second one.”
“The Bible should be taught, but emphatically not as reality. It is fiction, myth, poetry, anything but reality.
But in Jesus: “fullness in Christ”- “pleroma” (__________- meaning and purpose)
Paul declares, V. 10, “And you are complete in him” “pepleeroomenoi” -you are ______with him.
The philosophy of the world is empty, “kenee”, but there is a “pleerooma,” or fullness, in Christ!
Because the Holy Spirit loved this church, He had Paul praying for 6 things every believer needs to “live a life worthy of the Lord”- 6 spiritual attitudes:
1. Gaining the ________ of his will.
So it’s God’s will that we invite ______ into our lives, become _______.

We admit our sins and ________- own up to our ________. Accept _____ and learn spiritual wisdom from spiritually wise people who want the best for us.
It’s his will we grow In understanding those things that pertain to the "Spirit;"-
2. Bearing _____ in every good work – it comes from a inner love that sees that other people need Jesus just as much as I do.

To walk “worthy of the Lord” “worthy” means- “Of ______ weight”- _____ what Jesus did.
3. _______ in the knowledge of God
4. Reaching for His ________ “with all power” – his glorious might that gives us endurance, patience and joy. Eph. 6:10, “his mighty power” – power that has no _________!
5. Walking in the knowledge we’ve been ________ for his kingdom of light – heaven.
Like Abraham, who was “looking forward to a city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Heb. 11:10.
6. living in the _________ that we have been rescued & redeemed from our sin!
It's time we all declared, “Jesus Reigns in my life!” “Jesus has rescued me!”
