Beginning and End
Philippians 1:6
Pastor Jerry Koller

Philippians 1:6

Notice how verse 6 begins by Paul declaring he is confident of something. To be confident mean he trusts in something (or someone).
· He is persuaded in the truth he is about to declare.
· The "he is a reference to God.
The next two words in this verse—who began—is a reference to something God did.
God is a God of beginnings.
· He is the beginning of creation.

Genesis 1:1

John 1:1-3

Revelation 22:13

What did He begin? He began a good work.
· It is a divine workthat God has begun.
The next two words in this verse shows us where this good work took place. Paul states that God began the good work in you.
Not only is Paul confident is this great truth, he is also confident in what God does with the good work He began. He is confident that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion (NIV).
· ...will perfect it (NASB)
· ...will bring it to completion (ESV)
God never ever leaves a project unfinished. What He starts He will always finish.
God began His divine work in the lives of the brethren, and He will continue to carry it out until it is completed in its fullest sense.
It will be carried out until the day of Christ Jesus when Jesus returns).
