When we work together - we're unstoppable
--Paul appealed to Corinthians who were deeply divided

If we're unified -- the world will know that God sent Jesus to love and save us

How do we become one?

PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!
The goal is not just different ethnicities. The goal is to have life together.
John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Where does unity start?
Jenga - Swahili word meaning "to build."
How will our community see us?

Understand who your enemy is
--not people who are different than you
--Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:4 "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."
--A common enemy unites us
--The mission can also unite us: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
Of all nations:
--Acts 2:5-6 "Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken."

Beyond Sunday
At PCC, we want any person from any racial or ethnic background to feel like they are among family. In order to do so, we must become more aware of God’s heart for racial reconciliation, key historical events, and the harm caused to many. Each week, our “Be The Bridge'' (BTB) series will help us journey toward greater understanding, empathy and, in time, action. This week as we close out the series, we reflect on our experience and the journey of what it takes to be a bridge builder.
Individual / Group Discussion Questions
1. How would you relate the game of Jenga to building a bridge of racial reconciliation? (Let you mind get creative as you ponder.) And how do you see 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 relating to this process of building a bridge of racial reconciliation?
2. Note the 7 steps process toward racial reconciliation from the book Be the Bridge. Which step(s) have you leaned into the most and which step(s) seem more confusing or daunting?
Step 1 - Lament & Release Guilt/Shame
Step 2 - Confess
Step 3 - Forgive
Step 4 - Repent
Step 5 - Repair
Step 6 - Restore
Step 7 - Reproduce
3. Read aloud these passages regarding the key biblical ideals of racial reconciliation. (Genesis 1:27, John 17:20-23, Acts 10:34-35, 1 Corinthians 1:10, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, Galatians 3:28, Revelation 7:9-10) Which two are you drawn to the most and why?
4. During this series and or in your group time what are the 2-3 ways you have grown most in awareness? What story, passage, or concept has impacted you the most? Is there anyone in your group you need to thank or apologize to?
5. What personal steps could you take to continue to grow in educational awareness, experiences cross culturally or in engagement 1-on-1? (See Be the Bridge Continues: Next Step Resources link below) How could you help your friends, family, and church members understand the work of biblical racial reconciliation?
As a group or individually, declare the prayer below.
A Prayer for the Future (modified from BTB pp. 190)
God, we ask that you would use the awareness and acknowledgment of our brokenness and our disobedience in loving our neighbor the way you would to restore our relationship with humanity. We pray that you would raise up a multitude of repentant and bold leaders to humbly and profoundly guide your church to be the world changers you designed us to be. Holy Spirit, give us open eyes, ears, hearts, minds, and spirits to recognize injustice and lead us to be restorers of dignity, worth, and justice. We recognize that as we are reconciled and restored to our God through you, we also should be reconciled and restored to one another. Jesus, may we be found faithful in the restoration of the Imago Dei in all humanity in all the corners of creation.
