Good Shepherd Church
Colossians | Week 5
How does a letter written to a small church 2000 ago still relate to us today? More than you might think. The book of Colossians invites us to confront the reality that our hearts are prone to dilute the good news of the Gospel and begs us to consider the supreme worth and value of Jesus.

Legalism: adds rules for salvation and ultimately dismisses the grace of God and creates judgement to others who don’t adhere to your rules.
Asceticism: the inherent belief that pleasure and the material world is bad creating a theology where spirituality is gained through subtraction or self-denial.
Mysticism: lifting up the value of “spiritual experiences” to the point of creating a spiritual hierarchy within the church or dismissing the value of Christ altogether.
