Timeline–Part 1

Timeline–Part 1

We all love stories. They make us feel like we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. They can stir the imagination and engage the heart. They motivate us, influence us, and have the unique ability to build connections. So, it’s no wonder that the Bible is the most beloved book of all time! In this series, Timeline, we’ll explore the stories that span 4,000 years of biblical history, from Genesis to Malachi. As we focus on some of the most beloved stores in the Old Testament, we’ll discover that in every story the overarching theme is God’s desire to have a relationship with us.

Solution | Hold to the foundations found in Genesis
Sinkholes are dramatic because the land usually stays intact for a period of time until the underground spaces just get too big. If there is not enough support for the land above the spaces, then a sudden collapse of the land surface can occur. –US Geological Survey

No scientist or historian can improve upon, “In the beginning God …” This simple statement refutes the atheist, who says there is no God; the agnostic, who claims we cannot know God; the polytheist who worships many gods; the pantheist, who says that “all nature is God;” the materialist, who claims that matter is eternal and not created; and the fatalist, who teaches that there is no divine plan behind creation and history. –W. Wiersbe

• People were created in the image of God
Being in God’s image means that humans share, though imperfectly and finitely, in God’s nature, that is, in His communicable attributes (in other words, those qualities we share in common with him (life, personality, truth, wisdom, love, holiness, justice), and so have the capacity for spiritual fellowship with Him. –A.P. Ross
