CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What stood out to you from the sermon?

2. Paul asks Euodia and Syntyche “to agree in the Lord.” What do you think Paul means by that phrase? What is the difference between agreeing, and agreeing in the Lord?

3. How might joy help people in disagreement? What are some ways to increase your joy even as you experience significant disagreement with others?

4. Churches can be a place of deep division in the midst of disagreement. While disagreement is inevitable (and good!), division is not. How can our church (or your group) create a culture of agreeing in the Lord?

PRAYER PROMPT
Read Ephesians 4:1-6. Spend time praying for those qualities to be present in one another, your group, and Christ Community, and that we would embody the teaching of Jesus. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:35)

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: Joy in Disagreement
Scripture: Philippians 4:2-3
Speaker: Gabe Coyle, GabeC@ChristCommunityKC.org
>> “How will they convince the world of Jesus’ love when they can’t stand one another?”
>> If we want to know a deeper joy than the world offers, we need to disagree better than the world does.
>> Our gospel brings people together who disagree.
>> Don’t be surprised by conflict.
>> Our gospel equips people to disagree better.
>> Get fanatical about the gospel.
“Think of fanatical people. They’re overbearing, insensitive, and harsh. Why? It’s not because they are too Christian but because they are not Christian enough. They are fanatically zealous, but they are not fanatically humble, sensitive, empathetic, or forgiving—as Christ was.” - Tim Keller
“Unity in the essentials, diversity in the nonessentials and charity in all things.” - Chrysostom, c. 347-407 A.D.
>> Our gospel is big enough to disagree.
>> Forever is a long time to be mad. So embrace cruciform disagreement.
>> Our gospel equips people to disagree better.
