CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What stood out to you from the sermon?

2. Look at Paul’s list of spiritual “credentials” in verses 4-6. Why are these on his list? Why would they seem impressive to people in his day?

3. If you were building a list of your own spiritual credentials and accomplishments, what would be on it? In what ways are you tempted to put your trust in these things?

4. If you are honest with yourself, do you agree with Paul that knowing Jesus is worth more than all of your credentials? How would your life be different if knowing Jesus was always enough for you?

5. What is one thing you can do this week to trust in Jesus more than in yourself?

PRAYER PROMPT
Take a few moments to silently confess before the Lord anything in which you have inappropriately put your trust. Praise Him for His righteousness on our behalf, and pray that He would help us to know Him better this week.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)

Verse 1
The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Verse 2
You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Chorus 1
Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

Verse 3
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Ending
Worship Your holy name
Lord I'll worship Your holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Worship Your holy name
Worship Your holy name

My Worth Is Not In What I Own

Verse1
My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love at the cross

Verse2
My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed at the cross

Chorus1
I rejoice in my Redeemer, Greatest treasure Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him no other, My soul is satisfied in Him alone

Verse3
As summer flow'rs we fade and die
Fame, youth, and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us at the cross

Verse4
I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom's fleeting light
But I will boast in know-ing Christ at the cross

Chorus2
I rejoice in my Redeemer, Greatest treasure Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him no other, My soul is satisfied in Him alone

Verse5
Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed my ransom paid at the cross

Chorus3
I rejoice in my Redeemer, Greatest treasure Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him no other, My soul is satisfied in Him alone

Chorus4
I rejoice in my Redeemer, Greatest treasure Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him no other, My soul is satisfied in Him alone

O Praise The Name (Anástasis)

Verse 1
I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds His hands His feet
My Saviour on that cursed tree

Verse 2
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone

Chorus 1
O praise the Name of the Lord our God
O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord oh Lord our God

Verse 3
Then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King

Verse 4
He shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face

Philippians 3:1-11

Title: Joy in Being Found
Scripture: Philippians 3:1-11
Speaker: Andrew Jones, AndrewJ@christcommunitykc.org
>> Boasting in the wrong things never leads to joy.
>> There’s only one boast that leads to joy.
"Suddenly, I started meeting Christians everywhere. They were coming out of the woodwork: strangers emailing me out of the blue, priests coming to me for help with their writing. I found myself having conversations with friends I’d never known were Christian, who suddenly seemed to want to talk about it. An African man contacted me on Facebook to tell me he had had a dream in which God had told him to convert me.
It kept happening, for months. Christ to the left of me, Christ to the right. It was unnerving. I turned away again and again, but every time I looked back, he was still there. I began to feel I was being . . . hunted. I wanted it to stop...I had no interest in Christianity. I was a witch! A Zen witch, in fact, which I thought sounded pretty...edgy. But I knew who was after me, and I knew it wasn’t over." - Paul Kingsnorth, First Things, “The Cross and the Machine”
