CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What stood out to you from the sermon?

2. Paul says joy is found in selflessness (Philippians. 2:3-4). What’s your gut reaction to the statement that joy is found in selflessness?

3. In Philippians. 2:2, Paul asks the local church at Philippi to ‘complete [his] joy’ by being and doing particular things. What stands out to you about the things he names and why?

4. Out of a desire to participate with the Spirit (Philippians 2:1), how can you embody this call to serve others in your house, workplace, and community group?

PRAYER PROMPT
Pray that the Holy Spirit would give us conviction, and that we would courageously partner with God's Spirit, to give up our rights and serve those in our lives this week.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Come Sing for Joy

verse1
Creation sings Your glorious name
In endless song.
Let the redeemed lift up their voice
And sing along.

chorus1
Sing to the One Who has opened the gates,
Sing to the Hope Who has broken the chains,
Come sing for Joy!
Sing to the Lamb Who has conquered our sin,
Sing to the King Who is coming again,
Come sing for Joy!

verse2
Sing for the lost, sing for the least,
The weak, the poor.
Let Vict’ry’s song sing heaven’s praise
Forevermore.

bridge
We wait for You, we wait for You,
We long for Your return
We wait for You, we wait for You,
We long for Your return

chorus2
Sing, for the Sun soon will rise once again,
Sing, for the sorrow and darkness will end,
Come sing for joy!
Sing, for the broken will all be made new,
Sing, for the King is returning for you,
Come sing for joy!

God of Abraham You're the God of covenant
Of faithful promises

I'll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word
It will come to pass

Jesus We Love You

Verse 1
Old things have passed away
Your love has stayed the same
Your constant grace remains the cornerstone
Things that we thought were dead
Are breathing in life again
You cause your Son to shine on darkest nights

For all that You've done we will pour out our love
This will be our anthem song

Chorus 1
(Jesus) we love You
Oh how we love You
You are the one our hearts adore

(Interlude)
Our hearts adore
Our hearts adore

Verse 2
The hopeless have found their hope
The orphans now have a home
All that was lost has found its place in You
You lift our weary head
You make us strong instead
You took these rags and made us beautiful

(Bridge)
Our affection our devotion
Poured out on the feet of Jesus

Title: Joy in Selflessness
Scripture: Philippians 2:1-11
Speaker: Andrew Jones, AndrewJ@christcommunitykc.org
>> We can’t be full of joy and full of self.
>> Joy is full when division is emptied.
>> Joy goes up when preference goes down.
>> Put people before our preferences.
>> Joy grows when we follow Jesus downward.
>> Joy goes up when we fall down.
