CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What stood out to you from the sermon?

2. Read Philippians 1:12-26 aloud. Share all the ways that Paul cites that his imprisonment will bring God glory.

3. In vs. 27-30, the Philippians are being prepared for suffering and hard times that may be ahead. Is there someone in your life who has helped you prepare for hardship, perhaps by speaking from their own experience?

4. Discuss how going through pain and suffering in your life has worked to strengthen and change you for good.

PRAYER PROMPT
Share something that’s hard in your life, and pray as a group for God to refine you and mature you through it, not necessarily only to deliver you from it.

Prayer Requests

As a staff it is a privilege to pray for our congregation. Social distance does not change that! If you are in need of prayer click the link to fill out an online prayer request.

Title: Joy in Suffering
Scripture: Philippians 1:12-30
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@ChristCommunityKC.org
>> There is a joy that not even suffering can kill.
"As we said before, any attempt to restore a man’s inner strength in the camp had first to succeed in showing him some future goal. Nietzsche’s words, “He who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how,” could be the guiding motto..." - Victor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
>> The superstructure of relationships.
"...all stories, if continued far enough, end in death, and he is no true-story teller who would keep that from you." - Ernest Hemingway
