CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. What stood out to you from the sermon?

2. Paul is providing leadership to this church in Philippi - how does he lead his church well in this passage? Are there ways Paul relates to his ‘team’ that you can display more in your work and home life?

3. Read Philippians 1:9-10. In what way does he hope for growth in the church, and why do you think it’s so important?

4. As you look over this passage, does the tone fit what you would expect from an author who is writing from prison? When you feel you are in an emotional ‘prison’, how easy is it for joy and love to abound in your life? What helps it to break through?

PRAYER PROMPT
Spend time on gratitude as a way to choose joy. Recognize God’s provision and all you have to be thankful for over the last year.
Title: Joy Is Here
Scripture: Philippians 1:1-11
Speaker: Reid Kapple, ReidK@ChristCommunityKC.org
“Joy is when someone is glad to be with me.” -Dr. Allan Schore
>> Joy is found when we are found by another
>> A community that is committed
The roots of our group identity deepen and spread when we remind each other who we are. Regular reminders ground our identity in the character of Jesus. We need to tell each other what kind of people we are, not only as a reminder but also to immerse new Christians into their new identities. -Jim Wilder and Michel Hendricks, The Other Half of Church
>> A community that is committed:
- Remember names
>> A life that shares
- Practice prayer
We would love to know that you are here with us this morning, text "Olathe" to 913-286-1113 to check in. You can also submit a prayer request and join our mailing list through texting "Olathe" to this number.
