What motivates us to ask this question? In a single word: Regret!
Remember:
• Emotionally charged environments are not ideal for decision-making.
• Wise people recognize when they are in no condition to decide for themselves and by themselves.

Why We Stop Listening to Wisdom
1. We already know what the wise people are going to say, and we don’t want to hear it.
2. We don’t think it’s anyone’s business.
3. We become intoxicated by success.
4. We become humiliated by failure.

DISCUSSION GUIDE
Use these questions to reflect on this week's message as a family or group.
1. Talk about a time when you witnessed someone make a decision you knew was unwise. Did you warn the person? Why or why not?
2. Read 1 Kings 3:5-9. What did Solomon ask from God?
3. Read God's response to Solomon in 1 Kings 3:10-14. What did God promise to Solomon? What was the conditional promise?
4. In the message, we learned that wisdom has a single source. What is that source? How do you seek that source when you are making a decision? Where does the world usually seek wisdom?
5. Read Ecclesiastes 1:16-17. Was God's gift of wisdom to Solomon perpetual? How did he change over time?
6. What were the four reasons we stop listening to wisdom? What steps can you take to start listening again?
