The Family Table: Realizing Your Impact

Love impacts your pace

People want to be drawn in, not pushed out.
--Jesus invites us and commands us to live rooted in love

Sin is real
--But God loves us in our mess and in our world

Jesus calls our lives to not look at life and compare ourselves with those around us to find a quality or standard to live from...

Our standard is the life Jesus calls us to.

Love is selfless.
The Kingdom of Jesus is centered on Jesus and action-oriented,

My pace of life is love

Love communicates:
--you matter
--your story is important
--I want to hear your story

Love meets people where they are at, so that people in process have people who will process with them with patience.

3 Key Areas for My pace of life is love:
1. Time
2. Energy
3. Patience

My pace of life is love because love is costly. To genuinely love someone, being willing to move at their pace is meeting where they are.

Families, how can your pace of life be love in the living room?

PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!

BEYOND SUNDAY
Families need to know their words, their love, and their people all impact not just the adults but the kids as well. And those kids become adults. The aim of this series, Family Table - Realizing Your Impact, is to empower and resource families to be intentional with their words, their love, and the people they do life with.

1. What were some of the cultural influences in your life growing up? Did your parents attempt to encourage them or did they limit or forbid them? Were they successful? Compare those influences with the influences kids and teens face today.

2. According to Family Pastor Danny Bowers, the role of the church body is to grow in following Jesus and to live out our faith in every aspect of our lives. What happens, however, when any of our views conflict with becoming more like Christ? See Romans 12:2. How does this verse encourage us to live?

3. Pastor Danny says that people have an impact in our lives. Who are the people you spend significant time with? Do they encourage you to move towards Jesus? Who are the people your children spend time with? Do those people encourage growth in Jesus or do they influence your children away from the Lord?

4. In John, we see how Jesus had an impact on His disciples. Read John 13:1-15. Describe the situation and talk about its impact in your life. How is this passage lived out in your life today?

5. According to Pastor Danny, who our children hang with will influence how they view themselves and the world. How would a student answer this question: How do you think adults view you? How do you think teens view you, as an adult? View these two student videos. What impact do these videos have on you? (see videos below)

6. Our kids and teens need safe people who love and accept them for who they are in the midst of their mess. As we re-launch at PCC we can dramatically influence our kids to live in faith with Jesus. Working with kids and teens can be messy. But remember, Jesus shows up in the mess. Jesus changes lives in the mess. Jesus makes an impact in the mess. How might God be working in your heart to model that same impact that Jesus had with His disciples?
