CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.

1. Now that we have been in this rhythm for eight weeks, what impact has theFormed.life had on your daily life?

2. Read Luke 22:39-46. Why is this passage significant regarding how we understand the two natures of Christ (divine and human)?

3. Consider the agony of Jesus here, especially Luke 22:42-43. If what motivated Jesus to endure this is the divine love for humanity, consider what it would feel like to experience this unspeakable love? Move beyond what someone else ought to think (even take a few minutes to close your eyes and consider in silence) and consider what you feel at this unspeakable love of Jesus.

4. Jesus is anxious in this text. How does the fact that Jesus experiences agonizing anxiety speak into your life?
Title: Denying The King
Scripture: Luke 22:31-34; 54-65
Speaker: Reid Kapple, ReidK@ChristCommunityKC.org
>> Jesus is the king who overcomes threats with trust
>> Do we trust that God is just?
>> Jesus is the king who overcomes violence with healing
“Christians…love all men, and are persecuted by all. They are unknown and condemned; they are put to death, and restored to life. They are poor, yet make many rich; they are in lack of all things, and yet abound in all; they are dishonored, and yet in their very dishonor are glorified. They are evil spoken of, and yet are justified; they are reviled, and bless; they are insulted, and repay the insult with honor; they do good, yet are punished as evil-doers. When punished, they rejoice as if quickened into life.”
-Epistle to Diognetus
>> Are we a people of healing?
>> Jesus is the king who overcomes denial with deliverance
>> Do you believe that Jesus can deliver you?
