Serve

Church doesn't happen without you. As we look to resume inside services in October, we need your help. Consider volunteering in Children's Ministry or joining a Sunday Serve Team.

“Here’s my reading of the Bible, my reading of the Bible says that Christians ought to be sold out for racial justice, all races are equal, all people are created in the image of God, they should be deeply concerned about the poor and the marginalized, they should be pro-life, and they should believe, that sex should only be between a man and a woman in marriage.
Now, those four things, the early church was marked by them, we know that…two of those look very conservative, two of those look very liberal…so right now what’s happening since those four things are never combined in any political party, there not combined in any other institution except Catholic social teaching and you know Biblical Christianity.
And so, what happens there is enormous pressure, everywhere in the country, for churches to major on two of them and get quiet about two of them.”
-Timothy Keller
The pro-life movement is the modern anti-slavery movement. The identical arguments are and should be used to support both convictions. Every human being, including the unborn, has rights that the powerful must protect. The most powerless in society—unborn children—must be protected from the ultimate abuse and the ultimate denial of rights.

…Martin Luther King’s Civil Rights Movement, the Anti-Slavery Movement, the Abolitionist Movement, and the modern-day Pro-Life Movement all share the common denominator of speaking as a voice for the voiceless and insisting that the powerless be empowered and freed to live. All these movements share the insistence that all people be granted the same universal rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—the right to pursue a purposeful life for the good of society.

“To show mercy is to lift a burden off of afflicted people and take that burden on our own shoulders. Mercy puts itself in the shoes of those who are ashamed, alone and scared. What if it was us or our loved ones who were faced with the realities of an unexpected pregnancy?
What if we were the pregnant, unmarried woman living below the poverty line? What if we were the college student who was a victim of date rape? What if we were the woman with a husband or a boyfriend demanding that we ‘take care of it, or else?’ What if we were the teenage girl whose parents have made it clear that they will not support the birth or adoption route? What if it were your sister or your daughter?” – Scott Sauls
