What is one step you can take within your sphere of influence to make progress for racial justice?
PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!

BEYOND SUNDAY
Special guest speaker Pastor Hurmon Hamilton, Senior Pastor at New Beginnings Community Church, encourages us with four principles from the Gospel of John that will give birth to transforming our relationships with others, alert us to hidden dangers that can undermine conversations about race, and challenge us to make a difference within our sphere of influence.
1. Why is it so hard to talk productively and transparently about racial reconciliation?
2. Read John 11: 32-36, 38-39, 41-44. Pastor Hamilton encourages us with 4 principles (seen below) that Jesus modeled when talking to Mary. --
--Listen
--Lament
--Learn
--Lift-up
Discuss in your groups how and where Jesus applied these 4 principles.
3. According to Pastor Hamilton these are 4 principles that we can follow as we engage with others across race. As we put these into practice how will they give birth to transforming our relationships with others? Which of the four principles might God be prompting you to work on?
4. When we pursue relationships and have discussions with others there are hidden dangers/obstacles that undermine any conversation about race. They are:
--Hidden trauma
--Unspoken skepticism
--Displaced guilt
Discuss how and where you see these hidden dangers in the verses above.
5. Have you had an experience where one of these obstacles affected your ability to have a conversation about race or another sensitive topic?
Consider your sphere of influence. How might you take a step to make a difference in our world today?
