The magic is NOT in the Faucet.
With the exception of Christianity, every other world religion has at its core some system of good works by which the followers may earn God’s favor -- earn salvation.
“What we believe, what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us...we tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our mental image of God.”
~ A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy
“All who are bitten will live IF they simply look at it.”
v. 8b
God does the work & our job is to simply obey.
2-Fold Process of Salvation:
1. Justification is what God does FOR us.
2. Sanctification is what God does IN us.
When you teach that Justification before God has nothing to do with them and everything to do with Jesus, they need to know that when they fall, stumble, or screw up (and we all do) they are able to RUN TO GOD, and not from Him.
HEAR
Romans 10:14,
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
BELIEVE
Romans 10:10,
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
REPENT & CONFESS
Romans 10:9,
If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
BE BAPTIZED
Romans 6:3-5,
Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.
BE DISCIPLED
Romans 1:16-17,
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes -- the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished form start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “it is through faith that a righteous person has life.
