It is not always easy to see or understand God's plan. We will begin the new year by looking at the reality Jonah faced, and how his situation and reactions compare with our present reality.
Jonah 1:1-3 NIV
Jonah is not a highly quoted prophet but you probably know him as the guy who was swallowed by a big fish and lived to tell about it. Have you ever been asked to do something you really didn’t want to do? Jonah responded to God’s request to go to Nineveh by running in the opposite direction.

Assurance
What is on your list of things, “I am sure about _________ “? God’s design is that all know God’s faithfulness, mercy, forgiveness, life.
One of the benefits of running towards God is you discover the assurance of grace, revealed in Jesus. Discovering who God is can empower you in difficult times. Are you sure of God’s love for you?
Peace
Jonah slept during the storm because of exhaustion. Have you ever been truly exhausted? What’s the longest you have ever gone without sleep? Jesus offers peace and rest, even in difficulties. How do you define the peace Jesus offers?
Motivation
How many pairs of shoes do you own? Are you surprised by the number? Shoes are meant to be worn. Can you picture yourself intentionally walking towards Christ? Praying for a desire to grow in your faith? Jesus empowers and frees you to discover the riches of his grace. And, stirs up a desire to share God’s message with others.
Who do you need to extend grace to, today? Will you be obedient or run in the opposite direction?
