Elements City Church
Ephesians series - wk4 (Eph. 4:1-16)
The Apostle Paul wrote Ephesians not to counter any heresy or issues in the church, but to encourage and STRENGTHEN the followers of Jesus. He spent years investing in these people and sending others to do the same. He loves them. He's writing this letter to STRENGTHEN them deeper into their new identity in Christ and living out the calling of the Church in their day. It's still true today for us.

Thanks for joining us tonight...
Whether you're in the house or joining us online from your house - we are praying that tonight will be an encouragement to your soul and that you know you're loved. May God whisper to you and help you in taking your next step with Him.
http://elem.ccTonight we begin to look at another major theme that begins to emerge in Ephesians, and that’s maturity.
I think we all understand that to be emotionally mature adults, we have to leave behind childish ways. Shouldn’t it also follow that if we want to be spiritually mature, we have to leave behind childish ways?

If we want to walk in a manner worthy of our calling, we will need:
Humility

Ephesians 4:11-16
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

You and I have a role to play in helping Elements City Church grow and mature into the church God wants her to be. And it’s a beautiful thing to be a part of a community that doesn’t just embrace what we’re talking about, but actually embodies it and lives it out.
How would you like to be a part of a group of people committed to being humble? Committed to allowing others to lead out of their strengths? Committed to allowing you to step up and take charge in an area where you're strong? Committed to gently asking questions to help you think through difficult decisions? Committed to patiently coming alongside you when you need others to help you get back on the path Jesus called you to? Isn’t that a church you want to be a part of?

We are all at different points on the journey — some of us are farther ahead and have had a head start, others of us are newer and are at the beginning of the road — and that’s ok! But if we can each commit ourselves to walking this road to maturity, this church is going to THRIVE and you are going to grow.
Where is God asking you to grow and take a next step with him:
in humility, in gentleness, in patience?
