Seeing What Jesus Saw: A Wise Answer
Mark 12:28-34
Jesus offers us two commands around which we should center our lives. The interaction between a Scribe and Jesus points us to 2 observations regarding God’s commands and Jesus’ ‘Creed.’

I. The commands of God Rightly Understood.
A. A Common Misconception: The commandments were given by God as a Means of Salvation.
B. The Correct Interpretation: The commandments were given by God as a Response to Salvation.

Conclusion: Jesus saw that the scribe answered wisely. In his answer Jesus saw…
1. …a person Courageous enough to Think for himself.
2. …a person who understood that God delights in Obedience and loves those he Created.
3. ...a person who was Almost a Christ-follower.

The children of DCC (Kindergarten through High School) are invited to come help “Stuff the Box.” The evening of fun includes: assembling and stuffing several Operation Christmas Child Boxes, a short video detailing Samaritan’s Purse ministry, individually wrapped snacks, and games—all here in the DCC gymnasium. For more information, please speak to Ava H. and Ben H.

SUN, NOV 22 @ 7:00 PM // Community Thanksgiving Service
This year's Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at East Bend Mennonite Church. The service is sponsored by the Fisher-Area Ministerial Association and an offering will be received in support of their ministries. The East Bend leadership does ask that everyone in attendance wear a mask while entering and exiting the building and while singing.

Our sympathy to Karen H. and her family upon the death of her father, John C. John passed away on Thursday, November 5. Services were held this past Monday. Please keep the entire family in your prayers as they grieve his absence on earth yet celebrate that he is “present with the Lord.”
Mittens, gloves, hats and scarves will be collected on Sundays, November 29 and December 6 and 13. The items will be distributed through the Salvation Army. An opportunity will be given to the children to hang these items on the Christmas tree during the Worship Service on those Sundays.
The Thanksgiving Offering will be received on Sunday, November 22 and 29. A flyer highlighting the ministries to be recipients of the offering, along with an envelope, are located on the table in the entryway.
The Dewey Ladies’ Book Club will meet on Thursday, December 3 (7:00 pm) to discuss “Skipping Christmas” by John Grisham. All women of the church and community are welcome to participate. Please bring snacks to enjoy following the discussion.
The Table of Books located across from the offices are from the library of Justin and Maris K. Feel free to look through them and take any which are of interest to you. Those not claimed will be taken to Orphans’ Treasure Box in Champaign.
Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Boxes: The Dewey Church will once again participate in “Operation Christmas Child” sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse. Boxes and packing instructions are available on the table in the fellowship area by the offices. The boxes need to be prepared and returned to DCC on or before November 22 (note the date change).
A “5th Sunday of Praise” will be held on Sunday, November 29 at 10:35am. This marks the first Sunday of Advent and the beginning of Pastor Neal’s Advent series, “The Shepherd of Micah” from the prophecy of Micah. The service will also include the celebration of the Lords’ Supper. As always, Sunday School classes will note meet on the fifth Sunday of the month.
