CONVERSATION STARTERS
Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.
1) What stood out to you from the sermon?
2) In the old sitcom “Maude”, Bea Arthur’s character was known to shut people down by saying, “God will get you for that.” In what ways was she right? How do people react to the idea of a God who judges everyone and everything?
3) A neighbor tells you, “There is no Hell. God forgives.” What questions can you ask them to show there is a line of no forgiveness, and where there is the possibility to cross it.
4) “Be careful what you ask for--you might just get it.” In what ways does this describe people’s choice about their relationship with God and their final destiny?
5) People often admit that they are far from perfect, but are counting on God “grading on the curve”. How would you describe to them how God really “grades”? And with that standard, how would you explain what it takes to get an “A”?
